Antique 10K white gold and hand carved shell cameo (Italy). The cameo has a lovely landscape with a home, body of water, a boat tree and an erupting volcano!
This is likely a volcano in Italy called Mount Vesuvius. It erupted for 31 years starting in 1875 and again for 31 years starting in 1913.
Measures 1 1/8" by 15/16". Weight: 6 grams.
It is hallmarked OB 14k. OB is for a company called Otsby Barton. It has ties to the Titanic! Mr. Englehart C. Ostby was traveling on the Titanic as he was returning to America from a gem buying trip in Europe. Mr. Otsby perished in the Titanic accident.
OB jewelry is highly collected and this is one that I have not seen before.
